Continent with a Taste for More

Today Tulip sells its products in 14 African countries. However, the goal is expansion says Export Manager Kim Tofteskov Skovmoller who has 11 years experience in Africa
13-09-2011

Speaking of Africa the media often focuses on hunger, poverty and civil wars. But it is far from the whole truth. There are many exciting business opportunities in Africa and the nations differ widely like Finns and Italians.

- There are huge cultural differences. In some places the business is similar to the one in Europe, and in other places you have to be very careful and only move around with professional assistance, says Export Manager of Tulip, Kim Tofteskov Skovmoller.

He has been doing business with Africa for 11 years and has just entered into a business relation with a Liberian business partner. Liberia is thus the 14th country in the line of African nations where Tulip’s products are sold.

- The African consumers are very pleased with our products which they associate with homogeneous quality and high food safety.

Our products have a great advantage, as many shops sell their products from a tent in 40 degree heat with no cooling facilities. So it is important that the manufacturer is entirely in control of the production, and we are in Tulip, says Kim Tofteskov Skovmoller.

An Experience

Tulip's products are associated with special occasions because meat is expensive compared to the income of many African families.

- Meat is only served once a week or once a month, and then you want to be sure of a good dining experience and we deliver good dining experiences, says Kim Tofteskov Skovmoller, who currently is in Denmark.
